I’ve just got back from a quick getaway trip to China – back to a whole pile of work, emails and lessons to attend to!

Thankfully, I love my job 😀 Muahahahaha….

This morning I’m particularly excited to be back to work because I’m working with one of my older students….and when I say older, I don’t mean she’s been with me a long time, but age-wise, she’s older than most of my students.

I’m excited because:

  1. We’re working on a popular chinese folk song – famous for its much-loved tune and also for being incredibly difficult for most to sing 😛
  2. Most people think it’s hard to sing once you pass a certain age, and even harder to learn how to sing if you’re so-called “old”.
  3. We’re not doing the usual contemporary singing today, but CLASSICAL singing, with front placement 🙂

I have to admit I woke up feeling quite tired this morning from all the travelling I did the last few days, but as I sang in excitement waiting for Madam Ho (my student) to arrive, I just couldn’t wait to share her singing with you! I am so happy that she has accomplished so much in such a short period of time. This just goes to show that good vocal technique coupled with hard work can really bring you to places.

Check out a snippet of her performance in the video. Watch until the very end (there’s more of her at the end) 🙂

She is living proof that it is never too late to learn how to sing or improve your voice, and that your voice can always sound incredibly youthful and vibrant despite however old you may be!

Hope this encourages you to go on and keep improving your voice, despite however “old” you may feel. I dunno about you, but I’m gonna keep singing until I die. Literally. My grandkids would probably want me to shut up one day (as does my current family when it gets a bit much), but hey, the day will come, and they can wait – I only live once 😛

By the way, I’ll be demonstrating how you can use singing to improve your voice for Public Speaking tomorrow at Kuching – remember to pop by! The details are below:

Janice Yap @ The Young Achievers Summit

Date: 9th April 2016

Time: 1pm

Venue: The Regency Rajah Court Hotel, Kuching

I also have another workshop coming up next week in KL – it’s called “Love At First Listen”. I’ll share more details soon.
